Friday at 9:00p.m. – Feature Presentation: Red Pearl: Scarlet Kennedy, “fresh out of fashion school in fabulous Columbus”, is excited to start her first design job out west. What she doesn’t anticipate is how difficult making new friends and starting over can be. This coming-of-age ‘dramedy’ explores how our experiences, good and bad, mold us into the people we become. After all… New scenery. New adventures. New life. Q&A with filmmaker Jessica McGaugh to follow.

Saturday at 4:00p.m. – Feature Length Presentation: Desplazado: Desplazado explores the comforts of home and what happens when there are real and perceived threats to those comforts. With a lens on Fort Collins, Colorado and the residents of the popular Old Town and Tres Colonias neighborhoods, this feature documentary examines the nexus of people and economic growth in a nuanced investigation of the many facets of gentrification and its effect on those who helped build this award-winning city. Q&A with filmmaker Shari Due to follow.

Saturday at 6:00p.m. – Feature Length Presentation: Obselidia: George, a lonely librarian, believes love is obsolete, until a road trip to Death Valley with a cinema projectionist named Sophie teaches him otherwise. Q&A with filmmaker Diane Bell to follow.

Diane Bell is a Scottish born writer and filmmaker. Her first feature as writer/director, OBSELIDIA, premiered in Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2010, winning two awards and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (including one for Best First Screenplay). It went on to win further acclaim at festivals around the world, including awards at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Valladolid (Spain), Bordeaux (France), and Lisbon (Portugal), as well as at many festivals in the U.S. She was selected for the 2011 Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab for her project STEM, and was chosen for the inaugural Women in Film/Sundance mentorship program. Her second film, BLEEDING HEART, a feminist thriller starring Jessica Biel and Zosia Mamet premiered at the Tribeca Film Fest 2014. She is currently in post on her third film, OF DUST AND BONES. In addition to her work as a director, Diane has written a number of optioned and commissioned screenplays, including two collaborations with John McTiernan (the director of Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October). Born in Scotland, Diane grew up in Japan, Australia, and Germany, and after ten years in Santa Monica, California, recently moved to Denver, Colorado.

Saturday at 8:00p.m. – Closing Night Shorts: We’ll close out the festival with another block of amazing short narrative films leading up to our closing film, Two Secrets.
