CIWF Filmmaker Interview with Christine McQuillen
Director, Mom Says
Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
CM: I’ve enjoyed photography since i was a little girl and wanted to explore a different medium for recording an idea or a feeling.
Q: What are we going to see at CIWF? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
CM: ‘Mom says’, a four part piece about a young girl who takes her moms advice and uses it to her advantage, will be premiering at CIWF. It will be submitted to other festivals as well.
Q: How do you feel about being selected to participate in Colorado Independent Women of Film?
CM: It’s an honor to have a film selected for CIWF. I’m very happy to have the film screening at this years festival!
Q: Who would enjoy attending the festival? Is it just for the filmmaking community, or is there a reason why non-filmmakers should attend?
CM: It’s not just for the filmmaking community! Anyone that has an interest in unique stories or home grown art would enjoy CIWF.
Q: Tell us one unique thing about you and/or your movies?
CM: I use the same screen writer, Patrick Sheridan, for all of my movies! I’ve been a fan of his work for years now and I couldn’t be more fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him on a continuing basis.
Q: What else are you working on?
CM: I have one more short film that I need to make before turning my efforts to a feature. It’s about a musician trying to rediscover his passion. We are in early prepro on that project and I’m very excited to see it get made.
Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about Colorado Independent Women of Film?
CM: I think it’s amazing to have a festival for local women to show their work and their support for each other. We’re all growing and learning so it’s nice to have a place to come celebrate that!
Mom Says will screen Saturday August 17th at 9:00pm at The Bug Theatre. You can also catch a sneak peek at the August Emerging Filmmaker’s Project on Thursday, August 15th at 8:00pm (also at The Bug).
