filmaker2Q: How do you feel about being selected to participate in Colorado Independent Women of Film?
KH: I am honored about being selected, and happy I get to show my film.

Q: What are your hopes for the event?
KH: I hope people like my movie.

Q: How important is it to focus on regional women filmmakers?
KH: It is extremely important. Women are completely outnumbered in hollywood making up only five percent of the box office directors.

Q: Who would enjoy attending the festival? Is it just for the filmmaking community, or is there a reason why non-filmmakers should attend?
KH: I believe anyone who enjoys cinema would like this festival.

Q: This is the 4th year of CIWF. What’s been the best part/a favorite memory of the festival in years past?
KH: This is my first time entering a film into a festival.

Q: We hold CIWF at The Bug Theatre. Why is The Bug a great home for this event?
KH: The Bug is a great neighborhood theater. Perfect for this event giving it an intimate feel.

Q: Tell me briefly about yourself and your film/project.
KH: My film was a student project showing how Dreams are better then Reality. And how you see yourself sometimes isn’t how others see you.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about Colorado Independent Women of Film?
KH: I am honored to be selected and feel this is really a great organization.

Q: Tell us one unique thing about you and/or your movies?
KH: There are so many things that make a film and the director unique. I like to use interesting dynamic shots as tools, not only focusing on the actor but the surroundings and what It means for the story, weather it be foreshadowing or a significant meaning of an object that ties the story together. I always make the audience think and wonder and piece it together themselves.

Q: What else are you working on?
KH: Right now I’m working on a Women’s Shoe Commercial.

Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
KH: I am working on my website which is www.kimberlyhancock.com but you can view my Motion Graphics Reel at http://kimberhancock.wix.com/kimberhancock. You can reach me at www.kimberhancock@yahoo.com

Meth Maiden will screen Friday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m. at The Bug Theatre.
