CIWF Filmmaker Interview: Kate Lowell
Q: How do you feel about being selected to participate in Colorado Independent Women of FIlm?
KL: Ecstatic of course! It’s incredible that there is an entire festival dedicated to women in film. CIWF’s efforts to bring awareness to equality issues within the industry don’t go unnoticed and I’m ever so appreciative to be a part of that.
Q: What are your hopes for the event?
KL: I hope that everyone has a blast, that the people who put effort into these projects are celebrated, and that the night is not stressful for Eileen Agosta 😉 haha
Q: How important is it to focus on regional women filmmakers?
KL: The goal to me isn’t to focus on women filmmakers. We don’t deserve special treatment (yes, we do but the guys don’t need to know that 😉 ), I just want women to be equally viewed in the business as men. Women don’t get enough credit. I’ve seen women who are better grips than men, and yet that’s still considered a man’s job.
Q: Who would enjoy the festival? Is it just for the filmmaking community, or is there a reason why non-filmmaker’s should attend?
KL: The festival should be fun for everyone! Everyone should come on out and support local film! There’s no reason not to!
The Wolves will screen Friday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m. at The Bug Theatre.
